Flashback Minis: Olive Arms’ Watercolor Paintings

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio– Olive Arms was an accomplished artist. She began her studies of drawing and painting after graduating from the Wood Street School in 1879. She continued her art education in New York City.

She became proficient in watercolors, several of which can be found inside the Arms Family Museum today.

One painting hangs inside the the butler’s pantry of the old home. The subject of the piece is a cottage on the corner of Lansdown Blvd. and Atkinson Ave. where the Arms family would buy tomatoes from the woman who lived there.
