Flashback Minis: Packard Pool

WARREN, Ohio– The site of the National Packard Museum was filled with history before collecting notable Warren relics. The Packard Pool was constructed in 1934 as part of the Public Works Administration during the Great Depression.

The pool was built on the former site of the Packard Tourist Camp, which was located in Packard Park.

Following World War II, the local NAACP unsuccessfully sued to desegregate the pool. But Thurgood Marshall, the former NAACP lawyer and associate justice of the United State Supreme Court, successfully argued for the integration in front of the Ohio Supreme Court.
