Flashback Minis: Tree Trunk from the Battle of Chickamauga
WARREN, Ohio– This tree trunk is on display at the Trumbull County Historical Society’s Morgan History Center in Warren. It comes from the site of the Battle of Chickamauga which took place in Georgia in 1863.
Many local men were called to serve during the Civil War. One of those men was Jasper Kingsley who was present at the Battle of Chickamauga. It was Kingsley’s son who would visit the site years later and bring back this portion of tree.
Embedded within the wood of the trunk are cannon balls and artillery from the battle.
