Former President Trump Plans to Visit on Wednesday

EAST PALESTINE, Ohio – Former President Donald Trump has joined the list of people coming to East Palestine following the train derailment two weeks ago.

A local official confirmed Friday evening that a go-team is coming to the village to start the work of making sure it’s safe for a Wednesday visit by the former president, who has announced his intentions to run again in 2024.

Columbiana County voted 71.5% for Trump when he lost to President Joe Biden in 2020. The planned visit comes after residents, elected officials visiting East Palestine and some media organizations have criticized the lack of boots-on-the-ground help provided by Biden and Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

Trump is not the only prominent person slated to visit next week. According to a Tweet reportedly from her account, Erin Brockovich, a whistleblower and environmental activist, is planning to visit Thursday.
