Former USF Holland Truck Terminal Sold for $15.5M

NORTH LIMA, Ohio – A trucking terminal at 10855 Market St. that closed last year because of its parent company’s bankruptcy has been sold to a new owner for $15.5 million, according to records from the Mahoning County Auditor’s office.

Saia Motor Freight Line LLC purchased the terminal from USF Holland LLC, a division of Yellow Corp., records show. The sale closed Feb. 5.

The company plans to make improvements to the site, according to records from the Mahoning County Building Department.

Saia submitted an application for a building permit Feb.1 to begin interior renovations for an office and a freight terminal, records show.

Yellow Corp. filed for bankruptcy last summer, and 130 properties were sold to 17 separate bidders at auction. A U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware approved the sales Dec. 4.

Among the winning bidders was Saia Motor Freight, which acquired 17 properties from Yellow Corp., including terminals in North Lima and Akron, according to court records.

The transaction reported on the auditor’s website includes just the land and building, not any equipment or other assets.

In July 2023, Yellow Corp. shut down its USF Holland operations, including the North Lima terminal.

Saia, based in Johns Creek, Georgia, operates 194 terminals across the country and employs nearly 14,000 people, according to its website.

Yellow Corp. purchased Saia in 1993 as part of its acquisition of Preston Trucking. Saia and Jervic Transportation were then spun off from Yellow Corp. in 2002 to form an independent company, SCST. Jervic was sold in 2006, and Saia began trading on Nasdaq under the ticker SAIA.

The company also lists an operation at 1730 N. State St. in Girard.
