Fortune Favors the Bold at Tolmiros Financial Designs

WARREN, Ohio – The phrase “What’s in a name?” is particularly relevant when it comes to Tolmiros Financial Designs, though perhaps just as relevant is what isn’t.

Noticeably absent from the advisory firm’s moniker is the phrase “wealth management,” a very intentional omission, according to co-founder and CEO Jonathan Lapine.

“We always felt that people interpret that as they don’t have enough wealth to talk to us,” he said. “No matter what phase of life somebody is in, they have some financial decision to make. And everybody has the need for a financial game plan.”

Tolmiros is Greek for “bold,” which speaks to what the firm is all about, said co-founder and managing partner Ryan Glinn.

“Our core values are boldness, wellness and longevity,” he said.

In fact, even the Greek-Blue color scheme was chosen to represent the so-called “blue zones” in many Greek islands where residents have longer than average life spans.

Officials with Tolmiros Financial Designs cut a ceremonial ribbon Tuesday at their offices at 8700 East Market St. in recognition of the forming of the new firm.

Tolmiros was launched in late January by Glinn and Lapine, both certified financial planners.

“We help people achieve their goals and educate them on what is possible in their life,” Lapine said.

The firm employs eight and assists clients mainly from its offices here, though they are also taking appointments at their smaller office in the Churchill Professional Park in Liberty.

A ninth employee will join Tolmiros in June, bringing the total number of advisors to four, Glinn said.

“We plan to continue the growth that we’ve had. We plan to do that responsibly,” he said.

Tolmiros offers services in retirement planning, estate planning and tax planning, as well as a variety of other services for those who are far along or just starting out, Lapine said.

“We want our clients to live their boldest life, but it’s also boldness internally with doing the right thing, even when that’s the hard thing.”

Lapine earned his accounting degree from The Ohio State University and worked various jobs as an auditor and in corporate finance before joining his father-in-law, Andy Moyer, as a financial planner. Moyer was a partner at Dumas & Moyer and principal at W3 Wealth Management before his retirement in 2020. Lapine also was a principal at W3 Wealth Management prior to his new venture.

Glinn earned his bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University. He began his financial planning career in 2015 while pursuing his master’s degree in both finance and international business at Kent State University. Glinn previously was a financial advisor at Northwestern Mutual and W3 Wealth Management. He also serves on the board of the Howland Community Scholarships Foundation.
