Four Permits Issued in Ohio’s Utica
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Natural Resources reports that the agency awarded four new permits for horizontal wells in Ohio’s Utica shale for the week ended Dec. 22, according to the latest data provided by ODNR.
All four permits were issued to Ascent Resources Utica LLC for wells in Jefferson County, ODNR reported.
There were 18 rigs operating in the Utica, unchanged since the previous week.
As of Dec. 22, there were 2,953 horizontal wells permitted in the Utica and 2,490 of those wells are drilled. Of that number, 2,116 wells are in production.
There were no new well permits reported for Mahoning, Columbiana or Trumbull counties in the northern sector of the Utica.
No new permits were issued in nearby Lawrence and Mercer counties in western Pennsylvania, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
