Foxconn Presents $21K in Donations to Local Organizations

LORDSTOWN, Ohio – Foxconn representatives on Tuesday paid visits to both the Boys and Girls Clubs of Youngstown and Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley to present donations to the organizations.

“We thought they did a good job giving back to the community, and we wanted to do our part as a member of the Mahoning Valley to give to those good organizations that are helping a lot of people out,” Matthew DeWine, external affairs representative at Foxconn said.

Foxconn representatives presented a $4,500 check to Second Harvest.

“We were taken through the Second Harvest Food Bank – their operations – and learned about how food is distributed to the community and their efforts to do so,” DeWine said.

The Boys and Girls Clubs received a check for $16,500.

Funds were raised at the company’s annual golf outing on June 24 at Olde Dutch Mill Golf Course & Sports Facility in Lake Milton. DeWine said 110 Foxconn employees, clients, contractors, partners and volunteers attended the sponsored event.

Different organizations are chosen every year to receive donations from the golf outing. DeWine said each year they look at new local organizations they feel are making the greatest impact in the area. One or two organizations are then selected to be recipients.

“The efforts from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Youngstown and the Second Harvest Food Bank are instrumental in ensuring the residents of the Mahoning Valley have the support they need to live life to its fullest,” a news release from Foxconn states. “We are proud to partner with these organizations to make the Mahoning Valley the best place possible to live and work.”
