Free Narcan Kits Available on Overdose Awareness Day
WARREN, Ohio – In recognition of Overdose Awareness Day on Saturday, free lifesaving Narcan kits will be provided by the Trumbull County Mental Health & Recovery Board and the Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition.
Overdose Awareness Day, which aims to raise awareness of overdoses, reduce the stigma of drug-related deaths and acknowledge the grief felt by families and friends, is observed on Aug. 31 every year.
“Overdose Awareness Day is the world’s largest annual campaign to end overdose and remember those who have died,” said Kim Walker, addiction programs coordinator at the Trumbull County Mental Health & Recovery Board. “In addition to acknowledging those who have already been affected by overdoses, we want to provide Narcan kits to help prevent future overdoses in our community.”
Narcan kits can be picked up at the following locations and times:
- Barnes Temple Church, 2618 Niles Road, Warren, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- CBS Barbershop, 770 Highland Ave., Warren, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Cortland Police Department, 400 N. High St., Cortland, 10 a.m. to noon.
- Family Dollar, 1139 W. Market St., Warren, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Eastwood Mall Community Booth, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- First Step Recovery, 2737 Youngstown Road SE, Warren, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- FOCUS Building, 2051 Niles Road, Warren, 3 to 5 p.m.
- Hot Dog Shoppe parking lot, 740 W. Market St., Warren, 1 to 5 p.m.

Kits also were given out Thursday at the St. Vincent DePaul dining hall, 2355 Niles Road, Warren, and are available at the Kinsman Township Building by appointment.
