Growth Report 2017: Vinylume to Launch New Window Product

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio — Vinylume Products Inc. celebrates 53 years in business this year as it focuses on employee training, integrating advanced manufacturing into its prototyping processes and introducing a new product, says Ryan McGhee, sales and marketing manager.
“Moving our product forward is a focus in 2017 as we plan to introduce a new window,” McGhee says. “Embracing additive manufacturing has helped decrease the cost and time involved with prototyping, which helped us design and produce this window much faster than before.”
Vinylume Products manufactures replacement and new construction windows. Its products can be found in houses and businesses as far away as South Dakota, McGhee says.
Vinlyume also supplies raw materials to builders across the country.
The company is owned and operated by the White family and was founded in 1964 as a provider of aluminum building materials.
Vinylume switched its business model to the production of vinyl replacement windows in the late 1970s, becoming one of the first manufacturers in the area to offer vinyl windows.
Developing Vinylume’s workforce is among the priorities for 2017, according to McGhee.
In January, Vinylume launched an internship program focusing on assessing and hiring management-level talent.
“Bringing in young, energetic leaders will be vital to maintaining long term success and growth,” McGhee says.
Investing in technology has also allowed Vinylume to make better use of the company’s resources, both from and employee and capital standpoint, he adds. With the acquisition of new hydraulic-assisted equipment, employees will be able to perform certain tasks more comfortably with less physical exertion by eliminating repetitive motions and fatigue.
