GM Reports Sales Decline of 2.2% in Third Quarter
DETROIT – General Motors Co. and its dealers increased retail sales by 3% year-over-year and delivered 659,601 vehicles in the U.S. in the third quarter of 2024, but total sales were down 2.2%, the company said in a statement Tuesday.
Sales of electric vehicles were up 60% year-over-year. The automaker reported that it sold 32,195 EVs in the third quarter, up 46% from the second quarter.
“GM’s EV portfolio is growing faster than the market because we have an all-electric vehicle for just about everybody, no matter what they like to drive,” said Rory Harvey, GM executive vice president and president of Global Markets.
