Goloja Resigns as CEO of Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries Inc. announced Friday that CEO Mark Goloja was stepping down from his position after three years.
Goloja plans to pursue a new professional opportunity, according to the release.
“Believing in the value of people and the power of work truly drives our mission at Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries, and leading through this belief has been a great honor,” Goloja said. “Youngstown Goodwill and the communities we serve will always be very special to me.”
Youngstown Goodwill’s board of directors appointed Annie Phillips, chief operating officer and chief missions officer, as interim CEO. For the last few weeks, Goloja has worked with Phillips, the executive team and board to ensure a smooth transition, according to the release.
“Mark has led Goodwill with dignity and respect, and we appreciate his contributions to our team, our organization and our community,” Phillips said. “I am excited for Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries to continue developing as a multifaceted community resource and enhancing our delivery of services to the area.”
“I know our organization will be in the most capable of hands, as I know Annie and the entire leadership team share the same philosophy on the power of Goodwill,” Goloja added.
Goloja assumed the role of CEO on May 28, 2019, after holding leadership roles within Goodwill of Southern California, American Greetings and the Schurman Group. During his tenure with Youngstown Goodwill, Goloja oversaw the addition of two stores and the relocation of two others, among his other accomplishments.
