GPD Foundation Awards $17K to Education Projects
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The GPD Group Employees’ Foundation has awarded $17,000 to six local organizations in its first grant cycle of 2018. In total, the foundation said in a release, more than $540,000 will be disbursed nationwide this year.
Three grants were made to Lakeview Local Schools, including $4,950 for a middle school makerspace, $2,400 for Sphero robots for Lakeview Local Elementary Innovators and $1,295 for PK-8 BrainStorm.
The other awards were $5,000 for Inspiring Minds’ summer enrichment program, $2,000 for Students Motivated by the Arts’ architecture classes and $1,500 for Crestwood Destination Imagination.
The foundation was created in 2014 by employees of GDP Group, an architectural firm headquartered in Akron with offices in Youngstown, Chardon, Cleveland, Columbus, Marion, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Indianapolis, Louisville, Phoenix and Seattle.
A 501(c)3, the foundation supports K-12 education projects and children with medical and special needs.
