GreenBoard IT, Regional Chamber Partner on e-Waste Recycling

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – GreenBoard IT, an e-waste sanitization and recycling company focused on data security, is partnering with the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber to provide low-cost services to chamber members.

GreenBoardIT was founded by local businessmen Mike Martof, Chuck George and Wiley Runnestrand, and is based in Warren. Every data device that enters the company’s facility is either digitally sanitized using federally recognized standards or physically shredded. Certificates of recycling are provided for every pickup, and itemized certificates of destruction are available.

According to the announcement of the partnership, GreenBoard IT will pick up e-waste from a business’s location– at no cost if a chamber member.

The list of accepted devices includes computers, laptops, servers, scanners, hard drives, unused printer cartridges/toner, stereos, VCR/DVD players, routers, MP3 players, cameras, keyboards, paper shredders, LCD monitors, game consoles & accessories, networking equipment, speakers and UPS. CRT monitors, printers and televisions are also accepted. These devices typically require recycling fees. GreenBoard IT has reduced or waived these fees for chamber members, depending on the pick-up.

“We are excited to support the chamber membership with this program. Our mission is to provide secure and simple e-waste disposal in the Valley. We want to make sure our region’s data is protected and that we are doing our part to recycle old equipment,” says Wiley Runnestrand, vice president at GreenBoard IT.

To kick off the partnership, a recycling event runs through Oct. 22 for chamber member businesses with offices in City Centre One in Youngstown, where the chamber is based. These businesses and their employees have been notified and are encouraged to not only gather appropriate devices in their offices but also in their own homes and from family and friends.

“We know that all businesses have old computer equipment and other electronic devices and accessories laying around that they aren’t sure how to dispose of or are afraid to dispose of, given the information that is stored on them,” says Kim Calvert, vice president of marketing and member services at the chamber. “GreenBoard IT is the only company in our area that can provide certificates of destruction and guarantee that devices have been wiped clean. They will also recycle and refurbish where possible.”

The recycling partnership is part of the chamber’s member benefits programs with preferred vendors who offer cost-savings to members, Calvert notes. Benefits include significant discounts on health care costs, energy, shipping, office supplies and more, she says.
