HBK Receives ‘Best Employers in Ohio’ Award

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Ohio Society for Human Resource Management’s State Council has named HBK CPAs & Consultants among the 2018 winners of the “Best Employers in Ohio” award for the ninth consecutive year.

This year HBK moved up a spot from seventh in 2017 to sixth in the large employer category.

“Though we’ve consistently earned this honor, we don’t assume it from year to year,” said David J. Blasko, CPA and principal-in-charge of HBK’s northeastern Ohio region, which spans from Youngstown to Alliance. “The fact that we have made the list 11 out of the 12 years we have been nominated shows our commitment to employee engagement. It’s one of the reasons we’re able to establish such great relationships with our clients.”

Blasko said HBK’s involvement with initiatives such as the Anticipatory Organization (AO) Learning System help build team confidence, professionalism and gold standards for client service.

“We’re now in stage two of the AO program, a training process for our team to enhance their skills for spotting industry trends, identifying business opportunities and predicting customer needs. It empowers them to do and become their best both professionally and personally,” he said.

The annual list of the Best Employers in Ohio was created by the Ohio Society for Human Resource Management’s State Council and Best Companies Group. The selections are conducted through a statewide survey and awards process. This year’s list of contenders was comprised of more than three dozen companies from various industries and falling under the classification of one of two categories: small/medium employer (15 – 249 U.S. employees) and large employer (250 or more U.S. employees).

Winners are selected based on the results of a two-part survey process reviewing workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems, demographics, and employee feedback.
