Helmick Named Chairman of United Way Campaign
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Kevin Helmick, president and CEO of Farmers National Bank, has been named chairman of the 2020 campaign for United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley.
“We started talking to Kevin before COVID-19 hit our Valley and since that first conversation a lot has changed. The pandemic has presented us with various challenges to our annual campaign, but we knew we would have a strong leader in Kevin,” said Bob Hannon, president of the United Way, in a statement. “Farmers National Bank is a long time supporter and advocate of our work and we are honored to have the bank’s CEO leading our fundraising efforts this year.”
Helmick has already assembled a team from Farmers National Bank to work closely with the United Way team to make sure 2020 is a successful year. Their goal is to not only strengthen their internal workplace campaign, but help spread the mission about the work being done by United Way throughout the year and during the COVID-19 crisis.
“As a strong community bank, it’s crucial that we support our communities,” Helmick said. “By doing so, we can grow and thrive together. Farmers and our employees are committed to making a positive impact for children and families in the Mahoning Valley through philanthropic commitments.”
Helmick began his banking career with Farmers in 2000 and has held several positions, including investment adviser and director of retail services and wealth management. He was named president of Farmers National Banc Corp. in October 2013.
The United Way fundraising campaign will begin this month and run through November. The United Way is working with local companies and donors to adapt to the use of virtual presentations and online pledge forms.
Farmers National Bank employees are already participating in this year’s efforts by volunteering for the Satur-Day of Caring Food distribution, which serves more than 250 households and 515 people each distribution.
