Hermitage Receives $330K for Transportation Project

HERMITAGE, Pa. – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation awarded $330,000 to the city for improvements to Lorenwood Drive near the Hermitage Athletics Complex and the addition of a trail connection within the complex.

The funding was made available through PennDOT’s Multimodal Transportation Fund.

“This much-needed funding will improve both recreation and transportation in Hermitage,” said state Rep. Parke Wentling, R-7th. “As chair of the House Cycling and Trails Caucus, I am grateful to see PennDOT approve this project to promote running and cycling on beautiful trails.”

According to city officials, the total cost of the project is just over $471,500.

“The city of Hermitage is grateful to Sen. Michele Brooks and Rep. Parke Wentling for their efforts in securing state funding for the Lorenwood Drive Multimodal Project,” said Gary Hinkson, Hermitage city manager. “The project compliments a previous grant supporting a trail connection from the Lorenwood Drive neighborhood into the Hermitage Athletic Complex by making the necessary roadway improvements to Lorenwood Drive and further extending the trail system at the HAC.”

PennDOT will begin accepting applications for the next round of funding Sept. 23. Applications are due by 4 p.m. Nov. 5. PennDOT expects to announce grant recipients next year for funding that will be available in July 2025. More information is available HERE.
