Hollywood Gaming Racino Will Start Taking Sports Wagers Just After Midnight

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Sports gaming becomes legal in Ohio on New Year’s Day, and Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course will be ready to take bets on-site at 12:01 a.m. Jan. 1.

The racino’s Barstool Sportsbook area, located on the second floor of the racino, will feature a sports betting counter with four ticket-writer stations.

It will open at 12:01 a.m. Sunday but will not remain open all night. The betting counter will reopen at 10 a.m. Sunday. It will open at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 2; noon Tuesday through Saturday, Jan. 3-6; and 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7.

The racino will also have 10 self-service sports wagering kiosks, which will accept bets 24 hours a day, in various locations along the betting floor. The kiosks will also be ready for action at 12:01 a.m. Sunday. The racino is open 24 hours a day, although hours may vary on holidays.

The sportsbook area will also have a 28-foot-by-8-foot video wall and nearly 100 television monitors showing sporting events and gaming information.

“We couldn’t be more excited to launch sports betting in the Valley and are looking forward to welcoming a whole new group of guests to our property,” said Rob Swedinovich, vice president and general manager for Hollywood Gaming.

The former Skybox restaurant, also on the second floor of the racino, is currently undergoing renovations to complement the Barstool Sportsbook look. Located near the betting counter, it will not be open on New Year’s Day but will reopen prior to the Super Bowl, Swedinovich said. The menu has been revamped and will include some new items as well as old favorites.
