Hollywood Gaming Sets Records in March
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Wagers, winnings and net win at Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course in Austintown hit record levels in March, the Ohio Lottery Commission reported Monday.
The monthly VLT report posted on the Ohio Lottery website showed wagers at the Austintown racino – operated by Penn National Gaming Inc., Wyomissing, Pa. – totaled $118.99 million last month. That was up from March 2018, its previous record month, which was $109.74 million.
The March performance also reflected an improvement from February’s $102.9 million.
VLT players also took home record winnings in March, $105.59 million, up more than $15 million from the month before and up from $97.10 million in March 2018, the prior record month. Net win – credits played minus credits won and promotional play credits – was $11.87 million last month, up from $10.7 million in February and from $11.38 million in March 2018.
Penn National’s commission – its portion of the take for operating the racino – was $7.85 million, up from $6.73 million the month before and up from $7.53 million in March 2018.
The lottery commission received $3.98 million in March, compared with $3.81 million a year earlier and $3.41 million in February.
Penn National doesn’t comment on monthly numbers at its properties, but a company spokesman said officials are “extremely pleased” with the racino’s performance and patron support.
