‘Home Away from Home’: Extended-Stay Suites Open in Canfield

CANFIELD, Ohio – The SpringHill Suites and TownePlace Suites by Marriott of Canfield, developed by CTW Development Corp. and Kennsington Hospitality, are the latest editions to a growing list of high-end development in the city’s Westford Lifestyle Community.

The culmination of a 20-month project was celebrated with an official ribbon-cutting Wednesday morning.

“This is an extended-stay motel, only the second one in the Youngstown area,” said Cody Wyatt, vice president of operations of Kennsington Hospitality. He said the rooms feature kitchenettes, giving guests the ability to cook with a refrigerator and dishwasher in their studio apartment. “It’s a home away from home.”

Business travelers will find a business center, and all guests will have access to free Wi-Fi high-speed internet.

“SpringHill Suites will cater to transient guests and families with larger space, pull-out sofa beds, an indoor pool and large fitness center, probably one of the largest ones I’ve seen,” Wyatt said.

In the lobby, guests will find a bar with some food options in the evening and a complimentary breakfast, as well as airy spaces with natural light and places to meet or work.

The accommodations are the latest additions to the 400-acre property, where CTW President Chuck Whitman said they have been developing for several years to include the Kennsington Golf Club and Grille, the Kensington Golf Simulator Lounge, Courtyard by Marriott and Waypointe 4180, as well as a gated housing community with shopping and dining options. The complex is also home to Mercy Health Canfield Surgery Center and the Westford Centre office complex.

The addition of 101 rooms provides more overnight accommodation options should the Waypointe banquet hall host a large convention or event.

“We’ve done a lot of investing in this area,” Whitman said, noting the next projects on the horizon for the area are an ALDI grocery store and some assisted and independent living options.
