Housing for Immigrants and Refugees
CANFIELD, Ohio – In this excerpt from our Business Journal Roundtable Series on the topic of repopulation, our panelists discuss the need for more housing, and housing that meets the needs of people being attracted to the area. That will require changes in public policies.
“The town center model where all of the services are in one place and you build housing around it has really worked,” says Christopher Colón, co-director and co-founder of Thrive Mahoning Valley. “Immigrants, refugees especially, coming into our community are used to that in the places they’re coming from. They’re used to communal living, and so we champion that as a process as well.”
