Howland Students Receive $66,750 in Scholarships
WARREN, Ohio — At its 13th annual scholarship breakfast, the Howland Community Scholarships Foundation distributed $66,750 in scholarships to seniors graduating from Howland High School.
The scholarships were awarded this morning during the breakfast at Leo’s Ristorante in Howland. The foundation, established in 2006, has awarded scholarships to graduating seniors each year from Howland Local Schools through direct donations and the proceeds of the foundation.
To date, the foundation has accepted more than $758,000 in donations and has awarded 604 scholarships, according to a release.
“We are proud of these students. The scholarships reflect the importance of making postsecondary education affordable and they reflect the heart of Howland residents,” said Andy Bednar, local architect and president of Howland Community Scholarships.
The 2019 recipients include:
- Jenna Craigo: $3,000 James M. Keating/Mahoning Valley Hospital Foundation Medical Scholarship
- Stevan Glisic: $2,500 James E. Griffin Foundation Honor Scholarship
- Jenna DeSalvo: $2,500 Ross Griffin Memorial Foundation Scholarship
- Angelo Mauri: $2,500 Ross Griffin Memorial Foundation Scholarship
- Samuel Darrin: $1,500 Baker Bednar Snyder & Associates Scholarship
- Robert Moosally: $1,500 Diamond Roofing Systems Scholarship
- William Eisen: $1,500 Mrs. Lucia S. Flevares Scholarship
- Joel Anderson: $1,500 Dale & Evelyn Gebhardt Technical/Trade School Scholarship
- Alexandra Mijavec: $1,500 Hawkins, Schwartz & Melnick Charitable Fund Scholarship
- Skylar Daniels: $1,500 Howland Administrators and PTO Scholarship
