Hubbard Students Use Art Skills to Create Businesses

HUBBARD, Ohio– Students in Hubbard High School’s photography and digital media class are learning what it takes to be an entrepreneur. For years the graphic design class has included creating a logo and merchandise for a business. Art teacher, Josh MacMillan, is now expanding the project.

Students are now learning more of the specifics of running a business including thinking about storefront floor plans, logistics for providing goods and services, interviewing local business leaders about entrepreneurship, and achieving financial literacy.

“I thought if I was going to start a business at age 40, let’s say I want to stop at 60. That’s 20 years of having a business,” MacMillan says. “What could that have meant if I were to learn this stuff when I was 15 or 16? Or at least have the idea of it?”
