Hudson Companies Honored for Student Housing Project
HERMITAGE, Pa. – Hudson Lofts, a student housing complex developed and built by Hudson Property Management at the Behrend Campus of Penn State University, is one of 21 student housing projects across the nation to be honored by Student Housing Business Magazine.
The 92,000-square-foot Hudson Lofts received the trade journal’s 2015 Innovator Award for its architecture and design. The building houses 178 students; it opened in August 2014.
“This was quite an honor,” said Tyler Hudson, president of Hudson Property Management, a division of Hudson Companies, 2450 Shenango Valley Freeway.
The award was presented earlier this month during an industry conference in Austin, Texas.
“Hudson Lofts is the result of an extensive market research study with the faculty and students of Penn State Behrend, as well as our team,” said Hudson. “Behrend was experiencing a housing shortage with students living in local hotels and dormitory lounges converted to quads. We knew that we could provide students with a living option that was current, safe, and comfortable but decided to take student housing a step (or two) further by offering 21st century, state-of-the-art living for Penn State Behrend students that exceeded their expectations. We packaged it all in a beautiful building with the atmosphere of a luxury boutique hotel complete with an 1952 MG as the lobby centerpiece.”
