InterContinential Hotels CEO Vists Travaglini Hotels

NILES, Ohio — It’s not everyday that the CEO of The InterContinental Hotels Group travels from its headquarters in London to commend front-line staff at hotels in the Mahoning and Shenango valleys but that’s exactly what Richard Solomons did June 9 when he visited two properties owned and operated by Travaglini Enterprises Inc.

Solomons and two executives from IHG’s franchise performance support group visited the Holiday Inn Express Youngstown-Niles and the Holiday Inn Express Sharon-Hermitage, Pa. – hotels ranked No. 1 and No.2 respectively by the brand in 2015-2016 in North America.

“I spent several hours with the teams from each hotel, as I wanted to take the time to thank them, to present them with my CEO Great Hotels Guests Love award, and also learn their secrets,” Solomons wrote on his blog.

The CEO met with Mark McHale, executive vice president of Travaglini Enterprises, hotel general managers Jennifer McHale and Susan Hanigosky, and the three owners of the hotels, Kimberly Kern, Kristine Pesho and Carla Travaglini.

“The key things that came across to me,” Solomons wrote, are how the hotel staffs “love what they do, enjoy spending time with their guests, are immensely proud of their hotels and the Holiday Inn Express brand, and their hotels are clean, smart and beautifully looked after.”

The Travaglini hotels have been ranked among Holiday Inn Express brand’s top five since 2012, “a remarkable achievement,” Solomon noted.

“Our managers and associates are the key in maintaining our consistent performance over the years. The two hotels have won more awards than any hotel in IHG’s history. This exemplary performance is a tribute to their commitment in offering a quality product and maintaining a strong service culture,” said Mark McHale.

“We are thrilled that Mr. Solomons took time out of his busy schedule to recognize our hotels for their outstanding achievements. We provide a very high level of service to each and every guest. Our hope is this will leave a very positive impression of our areas on the traveler, which will increase the likelihood of a return visit.”

The two hotels have won more awards than any hotel in IHG’s history, according to McHale.

Travaglini Enterprises Inc., based in Meadville, Pa., was founded by the late Raymond Travaglini. The company continues to be a family run business with hotel operations in Ohio and Pennsylvania.

InterContinental Hotels Group franchises, leases, manages or owns more than 5,000 hotels and 742,000 guest rooms in nearly 100 countries. The company reported $1.8 billion in revenue in 2015.
