Interns Tackle Road Repairs & Revitalization

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Engineering students who finished their first year at Youngstown State University were given a task to work with city officials and offer solutions to problems that reveal themselves in a city environment.

Two groups of students presented the problems they identified and how they went about solving them. One group took on the condition of Youngstown’s roads while the other group took on revitalizing an area along Mahoning avenue between Hazelwood and Hartford avenues.

“I think their projects today in their current form are very well done and I think it’s an opportunity to continue to scale those efforts to be a little bit smarter about how we do things in the future in regards to integrating technology into our future processes,” says Nick Chretien, executive director of Economic Action Group.
