Jazz/Rock Legends Blood Sweat and Tears Hit Westminster
NEW WILMINGTON, Pennsylvania — The Westminster College Celebrity Series will present Grammy Award-winning jazz-rock group Blood, Sweat & Tears at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, in the Will W. Orr Auditorium.
Founded in 1967, BS&T is renowned for blending brass and rock instruments. Though not the first band to incorporate a horn section, BS&T pioneered the fusion of horns with rock, jazz and elements of blues.
The band’s second album, “Blood Sweat & Tears,” topped the charts for seven weeks and produced three top-five singles: “God Bless the Child,” “Spinning Wheel” and “You’ve Made Me So Very Happy.” In 1970, the album won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, surpassing The Beatles’ “Abbey Road.” It later achieved quadruple platinum status.
