Job Postings in Ohio Increase Slightly in July

COLUMBUS, Ohio – With 177,978 job openings posted online from June 14 through July 13, 2023, in the state of Ohio, there was an increase of 14,396 jobs from the previous reporting period.

But the number of job ads reported by OhioMeansJobs.com still represents an 85,210 ad cooling from a year ago. Job openings have mostly been declining throughout 2023.

The majority of the job openings were middle income and upper income positions. Middle income, 28.9% of openings, is defined by $30,000 to $49,000, while upper middle income, 27.5% of jobs, are in the $50,000 to $79,000 range. Entry level, less than $30,000 is at 16.8%; followed by six-figure jobs at 16% and high-income jobs, $80,000 to $99,000 at 10.8%.

Nearly 47% require only a GED or high school education, followed by $31.7% with a bachelor’s degree and 14.6% with an associate degree. Only 6.8% of job openings in Ohio require an advanced degree.

Registered nurses continue to lead the number of openings with 9,706, followed by first-line retail supervisors, retail salespersons, truck drivers, customer service and stock clerks.
