Job Postings in Ohio Top 300,000

COLUMBUS, Ohio — OhioMeansJobs.com posted 305,415 job openings from Sep. 14 to October 13 – up 28,767 from the previous reporting period, and up by more than 57,000 from the same period a year ago.

Registered nurses leads postings with 20,051. Heavy and tractor-trailer truck drivers had the second most job ads with 17,005, with first-line supervisors of retail sales workers (11,486), retail salespersons (7,398) and stock clerks and order fillers (6,657) rounding out the top five.

Of the total posted jobs, 27.5% list an upper middle income salary range of $50,000 to $79,000. Middle income jobs ($30,000 to $49,000) comprise 26.8% of posted jobs. Entry level jobs (less than $30,000) make up 15.9% of postings, high-income jobs ($80,000 to $99,000) 11.9% and six-figure jobs 17.9%.

Most jobs posted (42.7%) require a high school diploma or GED, compared to 35.4% that require a bachelor’s degree, 16.6% require an associate degree, 2.5% a master’s degree and 2.8% a doctoral degree.

The 18-county northeastern Ohio region, which includes Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties, saw 100,712 jobs posted online from Sep. 14, through October 13, an increase of 9,782 ads from the previous reporting period and up 14,321 from the same period last year.

In northeastern Ohio, job postings for registered nurses led with 6,916. Rounding out the top five occupations in northeastern Ohio were heavy and tractor-trailer truck drivers (5,381), first-line supervisors of retail sales workers (4,508), retail salespersons (2,809) and stock clerks and order fillers (2,542).
