John Reed Appointed Chairman of YBI Executive Board

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – John Reed, CIO and vice president of information technology at Aim Transportation Solutions, has been appointed chairman of the Youngstown Business Incubator’s executive board.

Reed will replace James Dascenzo as chairman in June. Dascenzo is transitioning to board treasurer.

Reed has been involved in transportation his entire adult life. He joined a small software company in 1983 and wrote one of the first totally integrated transportation packages. He joined Aim NationaLease in 1993 and was promoted to his current role in January 2003.

“John’s background has proven invaluable to our companies over and over again,” said Barb Ewing, CEO of the YBI. “We appreciate both his and AIM NationalLease’s commitment to the Mahoning Valley. They are making a real difference to our community.”

Reed joined YBI’s board in 2014 and has been on numerous committees, currently chairing the Strategic Planning Committee and participating in the Client Development and Executive committees.

“The YBI has been directly responsible for the renovation of five downtown buildings and adding hundreds of area jobs,” Reed said. “Its mission is to not only create businesses and jobs, but to lift people up and make them the best they can be.”

YBI’s board of directors includes Mahoning Valley leaders in business, education and local government who are passionate about growing the area’s economy and building a sustainable platform for innovation and job growth.

“Being part of that for the past eight years has been great, and I hope I can not only maintain the momentum but increase it. I’m honored – very honored – that my peers on the board felt that I was up to the task,” Reed said. “My goal is to make my time as chair not only memorable, but I want it to be very impactful and to leave it in a better position than I found it.”
