Judge OKs Sale of Trumbull Regional, Hillside
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – A U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge on Wednesday signed off on the sale of Trumbull Regional Medical Center in Warren and Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital in Howland to Insight Foundation of Ohio.
The two hospitals were owned by Steward Health Care System, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy May 6. Medical Properties Trust assumed control of the Trumbull County hospitals on Sept. 11 through a negotiated settlement with Steward and its lenders. At the time, MPT designated Insight Health Systems, based in Flint, Mich., to operate the hospitals and keep them open.
Although no price is listed in the court documents, the bill of sale lists the ownership names as Insight Foundation of Hillside and Insight Foundation of Trumbull.
The order also states the sales are free and clear of liens, claims, encumbrances and interest and the assumption and assignment of certain executory contracts and unexpired leases.
Additionally, the agreement addresses the transition of patients and employees, including the assumption of union bargaining agreements by Insight.
