Junior Achievement Named ‘Organization of the Year’

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Junior Achievement USA has been named “Organization of the Year” by the Institute for Financial Literacy as part of its 2018 Excellence In Financial Literacy Education Awards.

JA was presented with the award April 9 at a ceremony during the Annual Conference on Financial Education in Orlando, Fla.

Financial literacy is one of three subjects covered by Junior Achievement programs. The other two are work readiness and entrepreneurship.

Each year JA programs reach 4.8 million students in grades kindergarten through 12 in the United States. JA received the honor for the work it has been doing to incorporate technology into the delivery of its financial literacy programs.

Locally, Junior Achievement of Mahoning Valley reached 13,053 students in 608 classrooms during the 2016 through 2017 school year. Over 479 individuals volunteered their time in the classroom.
