Kent State Tops Ohio Colleges for Affordability

Kent State University has been ranked as the most affordable college in Ohio in Money’s 2024 Best Colleges analysis, which evaluated more than 700 four-year institutions. Kent State’s estimated tuition price, including average grant money, stands at $20,100, the lowest among the 24 Ohio colleges and universities surveyed.

“Kent State has made an intentional effort to create a high-quality experience while being named the most affordable college in Ohio, and it is great to have the recognition in this year’s 2024 Best Colleges survey,” said Sean Broghammer, Ph.D., Kent State’s vice president for enrollment management.

“Kent State remains committed to our access mission by providing competitive merit and need-based scholarships that help students pursue their educational goals while controlling costs.”

Kent State offers more than $415 million in financial aid annually, with 96% of first-year students receiving assistance. The Kent State Board of Trustees has implemented the Tuition Guarantee Model, which ensures that tuition, room, and meal plan rates for eligible new undergraduates will not increase during their four academic years from initial enrollment.

“We at Kent State want to see every student graduate,” Broghammer said. “We offer academic, financial, and personal support at every point along a student’s journey to graduation. It’s important to keep the Kent State experience affordable for students.”

First-year students from Ohio and beyond are automatically considered for various merit scholarships. Additionally, students can explore further scholarship opportunities through ScholarshipUniverse. In-state students may also qualify for the Flashes Go Further Scholarship Program, which aims to help students attend Kent State tuition-free.

The university also offers more than 8,000 on-campus jobs and an in-state discount for graduate programs.
