Kravtiz Deli Taking Orders for Pączki Before Fat Tuesday
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – In advance of Fat Tuesday, Kravtiz Delicatessen is taking orders for pączki, the traditional Polish doughnuts filled with jam. Orders will be ready for pickup at the restaurant on Belmont Avenue Feb. 28.
Pre-ordered pączki are $2 each, $10 for a half-dozen and $15 for a dozen. In addition to plain pączki, apricot, plum, poppy seed, custard and rose hip fillings are available.
All Kravitz Deli locations will have specials throughout the day, including pączki, kielbasa and eggs, and potato pancakes.
To celebrate Fat Tuesday, Kravitz is hosting its first “Pączki Roadshow,” featuring traditional Polish music, folk dancers and games. The show will start at the Poland library at 8 a.m., before heading to Mill Creek Park for an 11 a.m. performance. In the afternoon, the show will start at 3 p.m. before ending the day at the Liberty store at 5 p.m.
Owner Jack Kravitz has also hidden a golden coin in one of the 3,000-plus pączki Kravtiz Deli is preparing for Fat Tuesday. Whoever finds the coin will win a grand prize.
