Lawrence County United Way Campaign Raises $400K

NEW CASTLE, Pa. – The United Way of Lawrence County has completed its annual campaign, bringing in $400,000 to support 

At the organization’s annual meeting, board President Terri Stramba thanked the corporate donors that matched employee contributions – such as Ecolab Corp., which provided and extra $16,701 and Penn Power, which gave an extra $7,735 – and corporate donors, led by Ellwood Quality Steels, which gave $15,000, and The Ellwood Group, which gave $10,000. All businesses that gave more than $500 are recognized i the United Way’s annual report.

“This was a successful campaign and we raised over $22,000 in new dollars in the campaign with the help of incentives donated by local businesses,” Stramba said in a statement. “We are grateful for everyone that worked very hard to raise $400,000 to continue local programs that support our families in Lawrence County.” 

Gayle Young, executive director of the United Way of Lawrence County, thanked the businesses that donated raffle items: Lawrence County YMCA, Preston Auto Group, Ciella & Carney, New Castle Playhouse, Taste of New Castle and Camping Wold RV & Outdoors.

She also thanked Bob and Joanne Preston and the Preston Foundation for raising $34,941 through the Preston Golf Invitational, which featured PGA golfer Rocco Mediate, and $26,787 through the Taste of the Town event.
