Leetonia Industrial Park Considered for AMP Project
EAST LIVERPOOL – The AMP Corp.’s $100 million manufacturing project may still have life even though the company, whose principals remain unidentified, last month decided against building a 200,000-square-foot specialty metals manufacturing plant in Fairfield Township.
Last night the Columbiana County Port Authority approved a tentative agreement whereby AMP would purchase 68 acres at the port’s World Trade Park in Leetonia for $2.15 million.
The company would pay CCPA $50,000 for the right to consider the land acquisition, according to published reports. The deadline for a final determination would be 150 days.
When the project was first revealed last July, it was said that AMP would open the plant, dubbed “Operation Foxtrot,” sometime in 2017, and employ 120. The company was described as a “global manufacturer” that wanted to build a “state-of-the-art advanced manufacturing facility for high-value metal products.”
