Library Picks Construction Managers for Renovation

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The team of AMHigley Co. of Cleveland and Dawn Inc. of Warren will serve as construction manager at large for the planned renovation of the Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County’s Main Library.

The building and sites committee of the Public Library’s board of trustees selected the two companiesTuesday from a field of four finalists following the qualification-based process for the selection, according to a news release from the library system.

The library has saved $21 million in anticipation of the long-planned renovation project.

The trustee committee reviewed proposals, conducted interviews, and reviewed rankings. Other finalists were Donley’s of Cleveland, DeSalvo Construction of Hubbard and Mark Hudson Construction Inc. of Hermitage, Pa.

In April, the library board selected Bostwick Design Partnership, Cleveland, as architect for the renovation project. Bostwick is working locally with RBF CoLab and Paul Hagman as collaborating architect for restoration design, and with CT Consultants as civil engineer.

When Bostwick was hired, Aimee Fifarek, library executive director, said she expected the design period for the project to last up to 18 months and construction to run up to three years.
