Daily Buzz 9-2-21 | Canfield Fair Cuts the Ribbon for the 175th Annual Event

CANFIELD, Ohio — The 175th Annual Canfield Fair officially kicked off Thursday morning with a ribbon-cutting at the Fairgrounds.

Fairgoers gathered for the ceremony hosted by Canfield Fair board members, who were joined by area elected officials. Remarks were brief, but they shared a similar message of unity in the community.

“It’s great to see the community come together,” said U.S. Rep. Bill Johnson, R-6 Ohio. “People put their differences aside and get behind our young people as they learn about agriculture and they experience our values that make our nation truly a great nation.”

Mahoning County Commissioners Anthony Traficanti, Carol Rimedio-Righetti and David Ditzler presented Canfield Fair Board President Ward Campbell with a proclamation celebrating 175 years of the fair, which shares its 175th birthday with the county, Traficanti said.

“A lot may have changed in 175 years, but there’s one thing has been constant,” Traficanti said. “The dedication of families, our children, our grandparents, our aunts and uncles coming here for all of those years. This is definitely a mecca. People get to meet [and] enjoy their time.”
