Local Author Covers Political Career of David Tod
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — David Tod, from Youngstown, Ohio is primarily recognized for his leadership of the state during the Civil War, a period when the Union’s future was uncertain and victory was not guaranteed.
Author of the book “The Political Transformation of David Tod” Joseph Lambert Jr. says his passion for local history led him to discover President Abraham Lincoln once offered David Tod a position in his cabinet.
“There were no books on David Tod, so if you can’t find it, you have to write your own,” says Lambert Jr. “It was a very enjoyable project.”
