Local Auto Sales Break 5,000 for 2nd Straight Month
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – More than 5,000 new and used cars were sold in the Mahoning Valley for the second straight month, according to data from the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers Association.
In April, a total of 5,268 vehicles were sold in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties, an 8.6% increase from the same month a year ago. Much of the increase was driven by used-car sales, up 19.8% from a year ago to 2,390.
New-car sales totaled 2,800, an increase of 22 from April 2018. Topping the sales chart was Sweeney Chevrolet, Boardman, with 224. Following were Boardman Subaru, Boardman, 161; Greenwood Chevrolet, Austintown, 152; Taylor Kia, Boardman, 141 and Sweeney Buick GMC, Boardman, 139.
Leading used-car sales was Taylor Kia with 144 sold last month. The only other area dealership to break the 100-car threshold was Greenwood Chevrolet with sales of 128 used cars.
Four area dealerships ranked dealership association’s top 10 for combined sales: Taylor Kia in fifth with 307, Sweeney Chevrolet in sixth with 306, Greenwood Chevrolet ranked seventh with 286 and Boardman Subaru took the eighth spot with 267.
Across the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers Association’s 22-county membership area, combined sales totaled 7,407, a 7.9% increase from April 2018.
