Local Auto Sales Fall in June

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Residents of Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties purchased 4,361 new and used vehicles in June, a drop of 24.8% compared to a year ago, according to the latest data from the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association.

In June 2021, area residents purchased a total of 5,805 new and used units, the report shows.
New vehicle sales were also down in June versus 2021, the report noted. Area residents purchased 1,974 new cars and trucks compared to 3,079 purchased a year ago, a drop of 35.8%.

Used vehicle sales were also slightly down from last year, according to the dealers report. Residents from the three-county area bought 2,334 used cars and trucks compared to 2,644 purchased in June 2021, a decrease of 11.7%.

Taylor Kia of Boardman reported the largest number of sales of new vehicles for the month with 125. Greenwood Chevrolet, Austintown, reported the second highest volume with 105 new units sold; Fred Martin Ford said it sold 99 new vehicles, and Sweeney Buick GMC reported it sold 94 new cars and trucks.
