Local Auto Sales in April Drop from Last Year
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Residents in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties purchased 4,544 new and used vehicles during April, a drop of 12.7% from the previous month, according to data from the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association.
In March, the organization reported buyers from the region purchased 5,211 new and used vehicles.
Sales in April 2022 were also down 23.5% from the same period last year, the association reported, when area buyers purchased 5,946 new and used vehicles.
Sales of new vehicles in April stood at 2,181 units, a 31% drop from April 2021. That month, the dealers association reported 3,207 registered sales of new cars and trucks. New vehicle sales in April were also down 8.8% from March, data show.
Fred Martin Ford led local dealerships in combined new and used sales with 268 in April. Sweeney Chevrolet posted the second highest sales numbers with 255, followed by Sweeney Buick GMC and Boardman Subaru with 201. Stadium Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac rounded out the top five dealerships with 199 sales.
Fred Martin Ford also led local dealers in new vehicle sales in the region with 143 sold, according to the dealer association’s report. Sweeney Chevrolet posted the second-best sales with 138, followed by Boardman Subaru with 117 new vehicle sales, Taylor Kia of Boardman with 109 sales, and Greenwood Chevrolet with 89 new vehicles sold.
