Local Auto Sales Off to Big Start for 2017
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Car sales in the Mahoning Valley started 2017 with a big head start over last year’s totals as sales volumes for new and used vehicles climbed 18.6%, totaling 4,967 in January, data from the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association show.
New car sales were up to 3,086, a 22.6% increase from January 2016, while used sales totaled 1,859 for a 13% jump.
Sweeney Chevrolet in Boardman led dealerships in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties with 271 new cars sold last month, followed by Greenwood Chevrolet, Austintown, with 236 and Stadium GM Superstore, Salem, with 207 – an increase of 117 compared to a year prior.
The used car sales chart was topped by Greenwood with 107 sold, an improvement of 38 from last year. Taylor Kia, Boardman, ranked second with 75 sold.
This month’s sales report did not include data for specific makes and models.
