Valley Companies Produce National Spot for March Madness

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — A new commercial for the Werner Company, filmed exclusively in the Mahoning Valley, will be seen throughout the country during this year’s March Madness basketball tournament.

The spot was created and produced by two local companies, Cinemanix, a Youngstown-based media production company, and Clever, a local marketing agency.

Werner is the official ladder sponsor of March Madness with players scaling the ladders to cut down the nets after a victory.

“To have the opportunity to work with such a respected brand for one of the biggest sporting events in the country is a tremendous honor,” said Maz Mawlawi, production director for Cinamanix.

In addition to being developed and shot by Mahoning Valley residents, the spot also features local talent, players and locations. It was shot at Hubbard High School and Penguin City Beer.

“It’s a joy to have these elements of the Valley, no matter how large or small, be seen on a national level,” said Adrienne Sabo, founder and creative at Clever.
