Locker 1 & 2 Golf Outing Raises $193K for United Way

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The eighth annual Locker 1 & 2 Golf Outing raised $193,000 for the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley, the organization announced Tuesday.

A dinner took place June 18, followed by the golf outing the next day. PGA golfer John Daly attended both events.

Leo Henry, director of operations for the Muransky Companies, and Bob Conger, business development manager for Consolidated Electrical Distributors, once again chaired the outing.

“Our outing, hosted by Leo and Bob, was truly record breaking this year,” said Bob Hannon, president of the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley. “Bringing in a legend like John Daly helped us more than triple the amount raised. We rely on our donors and volunteers to help us have a successful campaign, and Leo and Bob are two of the best.”

Henry and Conger started the outing in 2014, raising $16,000. Since then, Locker 1 & 2 has raised $461,000, according to a news release.

“We set out every year to raise money for the United Way, and we appreciate all the sponsors and golfers who come out every year to help such a great cause,” Henry said. “Our goal is to offer them so much more than golf, but a truly unique experience at The Lake Club, the best golf course in the Mahoning Valley.”

All the proceeds will be used for United Way’s Success After 6 programming, the release states. In addition to nine after-school sites for the 2023-24 school year, there will be nine Care Closets that offer students and families a one-stop shop for necessities such as food, clothing, cleaning supplies, hygiene kits and bedding.
