Mahoning County Green Team Suspends Curbside Recycling

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The curbside recycling pickup offered by Republic Services through Mahoning County Green Team will be suspended April 6 in an effort to minimize the risk of spreading the coronavirus to employees.

Drop-off recycling at sites throughout the county will still be available and Republic, which is contracted with the county to provide recycling pickup, will increase its service at those sites, announced Louis Vega, head of the Mahoning County Solid Waste District, better known as Green Team.

Due to an expected increase of use at the drop-off sites, Green Team asks that materials are not left outside containers. A list of drop-off sites is available here.

“If the sites are filled, please come back at a later time. It is our intention to provide a safe work environment for our staff and partners,” the announcement said. “When visiting out sites, please be mindful of social distancing mandates. … We apologize for the inconvenience and are working to restore the program as soon possible.”
