Mahoning Land Bank Annual Meeting April 28
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Mahoning County Land Bank’s annual meeting will be held at 6 p.m. April 28 at the Campbell Community Center in Roosevelt Park.
In 2015, the land bank was reimbursed $4.76 million for demolitions in five Mahoning County municipalities . The agency demolished 137 houses, including 17 in Campbell and 14 in Struthers, and landscaped the lots afterward, officials report. This year, the land bank has plans to tear down 100 vacant houses.
The demolition program is funded by the Ohio Housing Financing Agency’s Neighborhood Initiative Program grant , which concludes at the end of 2017. By then, land bank board chairman Daniel Yemma said, the Mahoning County Land Bank will have torn down 350 houses in Youngstown, Boardman, Austintown, Campbell and Struthers.
“The format of the annual meeting gives residents a special opportunity to tell the directors about their experiences with the County Land Bank,” he said in a statement. “We look forward to meeting with all Mahoning County residents, particularly those from Campbell and Struthers, where our recent housing, demolition and greening projects have strengthened neighborhoods.”
The board of directors will also elect officers to one-year terms.
