House Sales Up 17.5% in Mahoning County
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Sales of single-family houses in Mahoning County last month were up 17.5% from November 2014, while sales in Trumbull and Columbiana counties kept pace from sales a year ago.
The latest monthly reports from data compiled by the Youngstown Columbiana Association of Realtors and the Warren Area Board of Realtors show 195 houses were sold in Mahoning County last month, up from 166 a year earlier but down from 241 in October.
In Trumbull County, 153 single-family dwellings were sold in November, compared with 151 a year earlier and 173 in October. In Columbiana County, November’s 73 units sold were down just one from 74 in November 2014 and from 79 in October.
Year-to-date, the number of houses sold in each of the three counties is ahead of last year.
In Mahoning County, 2,519 houses have been sold, compared with 2,168 during the first 11 months of 2014. Trumbull County reports 1,828 units sold year-to-date, compared with 1,678 for the same period last year. A total of 740 houses have been sold in Columbiana County, 16 more than the 724 sold during the first 11 months of 2014.
Average sale prices are down from a year earlier in all three counties, with Mahoning County seeing the largest drop. In Mahoning, the average sale price in November was $98,898, down from $108,669 a year earlier and from $104,599 in October.
Columbiana County experienced a modest decrease in the average sale price, $99,104 last month compared to $100,768 in November 2014. October’s average sale price was $100,579.
In Trumbull County, the average sale price in November was $86,885, compared with $93,286 a year earlier and $99,136 in October.
