Mahoning Libraries, Jewish Community Center Close
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County has closed all of its libraries throughout Mahoning County effective today through Friday, April 3.
Late Sunday the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation announced the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown has closed. The Early Learning Center at the Jewish Community Center will close at 6 p.m. Tuesday. All other programs and classes are canceled effective immediately.
“We anticipate we will reopen April 1,” said Rick Marlin, president of the federation, and Andrew Lipkin, executive director.
Library administrative staff will report to work Monday and Tuesday as plans are made about ways to serve the public during the period of the closing. Patrons are encouraged to use the library’s website and digital services.
Due dates on library materials will be extended, so that Library patrons will not be charged fines for the time the libraries are closed. Additionally, fines will not be charged for Search Ohio materials on-loan. Book drops will not be available for the return of books.
Three Mahoning County libraries are polling places: Boardman, East and Newport branches and those libraries will be available for the Mahoning County Board of Elections as polling places on Election Day, Tuesday, March 17.
