Valley Auto Sales Down in August, Year-to-Date
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – New and used car sales in the Mahoning Valley continued to fall last month as dealerships sold 5,063 vehicles in August, down 1.1% from the same month a year ago, data from the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers Association show. It marks the fifth consecutive month of year-over-year sales declines in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties.
Last month, 2,806 new cars, trucks and SUVs were sold in the tri-county area, a 5.2% drop from a year ago.
Chevrolet once again held the top four spots on the Valley’s sales charts for new models, led by the Silverado, with 202 delivered in August. Rounding out the top five were the Lordstown-built Cruze, 174; the Equinox, 141; the Malibu, 119; and the Ford F-150, 99.
